Nineteen managers earn Certified Port Executive status

Nineteen port industry professionals recently earned Certified Port Executive status, with the newest eight graduates finishing the program this week in Long Beach, Calif.

Recent graduates include Port of Long Beach’s Linda Clifford, Dimitar Poryazov, Kenneth Uriu and Randy Parsons; Canaveral Port Authority’s Jason Palmer, George Arocha, Gary Raia, Carol Noble, David Frederick and Christy Hartnett; Capt. Keith Barber, Blue Sea Maritime Security; and Corryn Morrissey, Port Charlottetown.

Further recent graduates are Morgan Haeuser, Coastal Cargo; Ronald Mills, Willacy County Navigation District; Mike Shaffner, APM Terminals; Anthony Murrello, Maher Terminals; Roger Lawrence, St. Maarten Harbour Group of Companies; Juan Villanueva, Port of Stockton; and Miroslav Koletic, World Port Security Council.

The CPE program counts more than 300 participants from over 35 US states and Canadian provinces. It consists of a five-day professional education course focused on the operations of ports, vessels, marine terminals and the related transportation system.

The program was designed to fill a void in the learning opportunities available for port managers so they can contribute more to the competitiveness of their organization, according to Ralston MacDonnell, president of the MacDonnell Group, an engineering and management company that offers the CPE program in the US and Canada.
